Be smart about your lighting options, use a dimmer to keep it at a comfortable brightness, and think carefully about the placement. When you lie down on a mat to do crunches, you don’t want to be staring into a bright light.
Storage
Storage and utility are easy to overlook when designing your home gym, but they’re critical components for a fully-functioning space. Storage needs to be available for the various smaller items that are often found in a home gym, such as dumbbells, resistance bands, jump ropes, etc. In addition, it can be a good idea to incorporate a small refrigerator to keep water bottles cool, or at least a small countertop with cabinetry and a sink where you can keep your reusable water bottles and refill them when needed.
